Remember I mentioned last Sunday that there was an artist who was backing up another artist? Austin Willacy was backing up Renee Wilson. Well, here she is. At least here is a demo that is to become one of the songs on her upcoming CD.
If I remember correctly from sharing the stage with her, she’s originally from New Orleans. She was even there for the big one, the hurricane name Katrina. It seems she’s doing quite a bit more than music. She also acts and is an activist. In fact one of the songs she did that night was a song she sang for Austin that was for a Katrina charity CD. So she’s obviously a very giving person.
Renee has a very delicate voice that suits what she’s doing very well. Certainly getting a good dose of that blues in the R ‘n’ B. What struck me live was the intimacy she gives her performance. You feel like you’re looking in upon her as she’s singing to a room of one. At least that’s the impression I got as I was sitting there right next to her.
I dig her hair. It’s an extremely cool juxtaposition compared to the modern trend.
I don’t know why I had to say that. Anyway, I look forward to hearing her produced with a top notch producer. I think it will bring out even more of the quality I saw that night at the Gypsy Lounge. Bookmark her site and keep tabs on her.
