Great question. I get asked that by fans of my music. They wonder what do I do when I’m not working on music. Lets take today for instance. I’m going to be mountain biking most of the day. I’ll be up in Sycamore Canyon which is a park between pacific coast highway and the 101 N. in Thousand Oaks. I prefer to start from the PCH side. I ride up through the fire road to the overlook trail. At one point it splits and there’s a single track that is a bit more mellow, but much longer, or a fire road and is extremely steep. I’ll feel which way I want to go once I’m there. The better I feel at the fork the more likely it is I’m going for the steep road.
Afterwards I generally stop to get some seafood or late lunch at a place like Neptune’s Net or Trancas Market. That’s a fairly typical Sunday for me at this time. Hence why I’m looking to go for a big ride from Canada to Mexico along the top of the Rocky Mountains.
In the early evening is when I usually tackle my yard. I don’t feel comfortable paying someone else to take care of such a small yard. Then I’ll do some cooking or BBQ’ing for dinner. I like to cook. Call me crazy.
Today’s Sunday’s Child that is rather sad. This band Fat was the precursor to Linkin Park. I have the whole CD. They were signed to a major label. One that a buddy of mine worked at. He turned me on to Fat. I think they were ahead of their time. Unfortunately they got shelved. Probably because they were too far in between several styles. I’m listening to the rest of the CD right now as I’m writing this and I’ve heard some hip hop, some funk rock, some regular rock, some heavy rock, etc… I say they opened the door for Linkin Park. They even had elements of Dan Reed Network in their sound. I’m not sure they ever hit store shelves.
I didn’t care much for the music at the time I got it. But now I much more appreciative of it as I’m writing about it now.
They’ve got no website. They’re not on iTunes. I have no clue who was in the band. I don’t know what more I can say other than it’s a terrible waste that they were treated poorly by their label. Maybe there is more to the story than I know.
Enjoy.
