Learning.
I’ve learned that you really can get sick in the middle of summer. What a drag.
I’ve learned you can get support when your ill from people you wouldn’t expect, and of course from the one person most people would get it from: Mom. My mom had food delivered to me and she’s not even in the same state! Gotta love moms.
When I was learning to play guitar, at least first starting out, I would dig up all kinds of crazy stuff. Since I rearranged my CD’s last week I found some things that I hadn’t played in a while. I once found a CD by this band XYZ in a bin somewhere and I thought strange name for a band and I picked it up. Since I was into techy guitar playing by guys like Vai and Satriani, I’d listen to anything remotely like that.
So I dug this CD. But I could tell right away they were being squeezed through a round hole despite being a star peg. What I mean by that is that I could hear that someone else (the producer) was making them do things that didn’t make them comfortable with the sound. Reading the liner notes I see the producer was Don Dokken. He’s the lead singer of a famous 80’s hair metal band. So yup. I knew that had to be it.
As I went to write today’s post I found that the CD I have isn’t online, but the demos of the album are. Even better is that they’re on CD Baby. Smart band member right there! So I doubt you’ll be able to get this version anywhere. Maybe you can go to their website and contact the artist to see if they have copies. Otherwise, I’m much more in tune with the vibe on the demo. I’m a sucker for that sound. I think I’ll have to go diggin through their site to see if I can find more songs that would rock.
Show them some love.
