My title for today is a take off of a line from the movie American Beauty. Can you remember the exact line? I’ll give ya a moment…
You’ve seen the movie right?
Got it yet?
It comes from the freaky next door neighbor kid.
Give up yet?
“Sometimes there’s so much beauty in the world I feel like I can’t take it…”
That’s an extremely profound thing to say. Especially if you look at the world in a sense of wonderment. The interesting part about that line is that the character Ricky is saying it about a video of plastic bag whirling in a circle in the wind.
If you haven’t seen that movie, you need to do yourself and rent the thing. It’s an amazing look into a slice of the American psychotic. It’s also one of the many great films with Kevin Spacey fronting the story. He’s a fantastic actor. One that brings a level of perfection and grace to any role he takes on.
The same can be said for musicians. Occasionally there are musicians that just have that air about them that gets other people to notice they’re damn good. Of course that’s what I attempt to showcase here on Single of the Day. Music from musicians that have a flair for that grace, that intangible that says they’re damn good.
I feel like I shouldn’t type much more as you listen to this creation.
I was touched the moment I heard this song. I’m not religious, but I can appreciate music that speaks to people, no matter the message. This gospel style has a nice southern flair. I’m also in awe of the arrangement of the vocals. It gives me chills to listen to this over and over. My forte is in writing music and melody. I don’t consider myself a vocalist. But to arrange something like this is so cool. Allison has certainly achieved something extraordinary here. Not to mention she’s got a very smooth voice that works well harmonizing with itself. I’m not sure I’d have the balls to go a cappella like this, but listening to this certainly gives me ideas of what would be interesting to try.
In closing, how could you not appreciate this song? Support Allison, get it now.
Oh, and leave a comment to let us know how it made you feel.
I love this song. Allison has a beautiful voice. Very moving.
Thanks for posting Allison’s song. I too have a wildly eclectic tastes, and whoever can’t appreciate this song, is dead inside and needs Grace the most.
Dave
As usual Allison’s voice captivates the essense of the song, A beautiful effort.
You’re welcome. This is one of those things you can ignore. It’s a very well done tune.
