You know, I must confess…
I had prematurely announced the birthday of Single of the Day back on the 16th. In actuality it’s June 27th. I spaced re-announcing it yesterday and now I’m wondering why it is no one called me out on it. I guess I don’t have any readers who are still reading from last year. What should I make of that? I remember when I played a joke in posting a late post and treating it like I was traveling in time. The number of people that wrote wondering where the post was was pretty amazing. Hmmm… Maybe I should try that again.
Nah, I keep moving on like I always do.
Today’s song comes from Chris Mello. I spent time pouring over his CD Baby page. I really dug the vibe of the whole CD. Reading through some of his music life story is pretty amazing. The people he’s played with is quite impressive. Listening to the music you can understand why his ability would be in demand. He’s definitely got his style down. Of course the best thing for artists looking for a particular style of playing when recording is to hire those who know it like the back of their hands. Chris is just such a player from what I can hear.
While I try to branch out on selections here, it certainly helps when recommendations come in. I don’t actively have a lot of this kind of music in my catalog. Though you can bet I’m going to be adding Chris to my iTunes Library. Will you?
Here’s why: you can do a creative dance to this. Again, I’m not versed in things like the tango, or salsa dancing. Eventually I’d like to learn to do some sort of fancy dance. Until then, I can put this on in private and shuffle around the room and make crazy gestures like that military cadet on YouTube. Although I believe this music has a bit more street cred than the silly music the cadet was strutting around to. Don’t you? I imagine you’d like to dance to this too. So get it.
I checked out some other songs of his and I really like “What you left behind”.
I love this kind of music. I own some ottmar Liebert and the soundtrack to the mambo kings. FANTASTIC stuff.
Coolio, I’m sure that’s exactly what Chris would love to hear. There’s some cool stuff on this CD.
