As I mentioned yesterday, it was a long day. Today on the other hand will be fun day. Well after I get to taking care of some business, there’s still more phone calls and some faxes to be made. However this afternoon I get to do some writing with Mark Luna. He’s coming over to the studio and we’ll be seeing what our two mischievous musical minds come up with. To quote Mark “We could do some serious [musical] damage.” I’m looking forward to it.
I swear he’s gonna be featured on Single of the Day before too long. It will happen and I don’t think it will be our tune either.
After the writing session it’s the weekly poker game. Where we’re starting to get a decent sized game going with 8 people each week. It changes things drastically and certainly makes it more fun. Mark is likely to join us this week, so that will make 8 or 9 depending on who doesn’t show up. So it will be another long day, cause poker tends to go later with more people.
As I mentioned last week was pretty dark. Lots of dumb stuff was said and done, but I’m getting past it. Unfortunately two friends have currently been lost. I said my apologies to make peace, alas it seems they have fallen on deaf ears. That saddens me, but then I likely deserve it for falling apart at the seems. But I’m coming back from the depths and I’m breathing a sigh of relief as things turn around.
If you haven’t ever heard of The Hellecasters, you have now. Made of three very capable and amazing guitar players as the core of the group. They all play Fender Telecasters, or at least I think that’s the idea behind what they do. I’ve actually met one of the guitarists, Jerry Donahue. He’s a fellow endorsee of Groove Tube products. I met him at the factory once some time ago. Very nice guy. Smokin amazing player. Actually all three of them are. In fact it was because of meeting him that I picked up this CD.
They do tons of really great harmonizing lines in most of their songs. In fact this is some of the coolest co-lead guitar playing you find anywhere. Some of the stuff is amazingly intricate with all the country-esque bends. Throughout the course of the whole CD you’ll end up hearing just about every guitar effect trick there is in the book. Scary bends, two-handed tapping, pick scrapes, harmonics, dive bombs, pinch harmonics, tremelo picking, etc… It’s all in there and more. Kinda like Prego. It’s In There.
So, if you need some great instrumental music for a function… Get it now.
(** Disclaimer: If The Hellecasters label decides to lose me in kashmir, then I’ll lose the audio too. The post will remain to show that I’m coming out of the dark tunnel. **)
