Even if you’re not of Mexican descent I’m sure you can find something good to celebrate on this surrogate holiday. What could you possibly have to be happy about? You’re alive. You must be, you’re reading this. Thus that’s a darn good start to a happy day. What more do you need than that? How about a good hike on a hill? That’s pretty good too. Had a good home cooked meal lately? Seen a good movie? Gotten a gift from someone? Received a compliment from a complete stranger? Tied your shoelaces this morning? All good things to celebrate for Cinco De Mayo.
I’m not sure I’ve ever directly participated in a Cinco De Mayo festival, but it looks fun. Usually I’m caught hanging around a bunch of friends drinking things like Corona’s. Sadly that’s about as festive as I’ve gotten with it. Would I be happy to do a little diggin into the past of this holiday I’d probably find out something. Learning is good.
What makes you happy? Don’t be shy, g’head list it out in the comments. You’ll never know who can come through for you.
Leila has got to be happy in some way, she’s writting a song called “Happiness is Real”. As you can hear, it’s very low key. It’s short, it’s too the point. She’s got a unique voice to go right along with it. Next time you’re having a bad day, or even a down week. I’d suggest pulling this song off iTunes for an underground pick-me-up.
I met Leila at the Hotel Cafe where CD Baby Held an event. She was one of many artists that came up to greet me. It’s was a big pleasure meeting so many artists. The downside is that I’m likely to forget a few people. It would be nice to get better aquainted with some of these people. But as my mom says there’s only one person that can make you happy – that is You.
So put a smile on your face. Put a smile on leila’s. Put a smile on mine. How? Buy the song. It will do us all some good and who can’t use some good?
