You gotta love when something you do is taken out of context. As an artist or a musician it happens an awful lot. Most of the time you have to take the punches and just roll with it. However this time that it’s happened to me, I’m unclear as to why I was taken out of context. I had a digital friend as I’ll call them. Someone whom I thought I had gotten to know via a social networking site. Trade the occasional message and text message and thought nothing of it. Then a friend of that friend comes along a befriends me. Someone I respect for the work they do.
I get wild hair up my creative butt to write a song based on some of that work. I decide hey it would be cool to play it for them. Thus comes the chain of events that I don’t understand. The song in question is really quite good. At least from all the initial feedback I got from a bunch of friends including the digital friend I’m going on about. I never asked for the direct contact to the person who I respected, it was freely given to me when I mentioned I’d e-mail the first friend. Of course when getting an address over a cell phone occurs, not all the characters come through, so I got several bounced e-mails. In the attempt to correct the situation lots of messages were exchanged trying to figure it out.
Then along comes a fun new thing of voice messages. I decide to maybe give a sneak peak of the song in question on a voice message. Unfortunately it came out all static’d and sound terrible, I even mention in a comment how it wasn’t great. Somehow that gets turned into me advertising and being a user. It’s an unfortunate thing, when you’re attempting to connect with something you’ve created and instead get accused of something you weren’t even thinking of. What can ya do. I accept the fact this person has no desire to speak to me, it’s their perogative. But over something as trivial as that, well, it’s just odd to say the least.
Anyway, I’m sure it happens to more than just artists and musicians. Chances are it’s happened to you too. Thus my choice for today’s song. For a vast majority of us English speaking people that don’t know a second language we’ll not understand anything other than the feeling the song gives us. That’s all I can say about it.
