Every now and then you’ve got to take a step back, take a deep breath and let something go. Last night I actually got a bit ticked off over a hand in poker at my home game with some friends. It’s generally conceeded that I’m the strongest player in our group. However a good friend of mine who is also a decent player was making mistakes in hands and getting lucky. After the second mistake that cost me my game, I blew up. I had to let some steam out.
It’s probably the most agitated that my friends have ever seen me. I generally never get testy, but it sure surfaced last night. I had to get up and walk around, get some water, etc. I had to let off steam. It likely stems from more than a simple game of poker. I’ve been in a holding pattern on getting out on tour due to many circumstances beyond my control and it’s got me going out of my mind. I’m hitting that wall of frustration that isn’t fun. I’m a little bummed out that I took my frustration out in the game and towards my friends.
So, last night I nursed my sunburn I got from writing lyrics in the sun and took some deep breaths and chilled out. I regained some composure and perspective.
I also spent some time chillin to James Eeday. His song Together is one of those songs that you have to sit through, cause once you get past the intro it gets better. In fact, the more I listen to the song the better it gets. I especially like the latter parts of the song where the rhythmic vocal lines come in. I don’t know what it is about that part but it’s cool. It also solidifies that reggae thing going. I think it would be a hell of a lot stronger if it were that way the whole time. The future certainly looks bright for him if he catches that vibe. Much like ZKing whom we heard recently.
This is good party music. Good backyard holding a beer about to BBQ with the friends needing to dance and chill type music. Add it to your collection.
