Self Taught has finally got their song on iTunes, you can get it now!
***** End Update *****
What would life be like if you could see the future? To be able to be at least 2 steps ahead of what’s going to happen. There’s been tons of stories about that very subject. I wouldn’t be able to take a guess at the number of movies made about it, but there have been many and some are quite good. Predicting the future is a facinating subject, there’s no doubt about it. Coming soon is a movie called Next starring Nicholas Cage. Yet another movie about the subject of seeing the future. The concept is that he can predict or rather see his own future. Then he’s able to make changes or even see outcomes based on different actions to effect his future. Pretty neat idea if you ask me.
What about the famed sight-seers? Nostradamus is actually mentioned in this song. Many people considered him to be one of the greatest future tellers ever. The odd thing is is that no one can truly decipher his writings. Thus how is it possible that any of the scribblings he made be correct. Until someone knows the key to his writings, it’s probably just someone with a great imagination. Do you believe anyone really has the ability to fortell the future? Even if they could is it worth it to change what they see?
This is also a subject that is being dealt with by a character on LOST. One of them, Desmond, has gained the ability to foresee the future of one of the others, Charlie. Though his visions regarding the future are only based on moments where Charlie is to die. Desmond so far has intervened in each case to save Charlie’s life. Then the question becomes is it a burden? Is it his purpose in life to keep saving Charlie’s life? I guess we’ll soon find out.
Self Taught has made it the subject of this song. It’s actually a cool adventure. I think Self Taught is on their way to the top. This is a great start to a career. I like the rhythm and flow they get with the rapping on this song. I do think the chorus vocal could have been worked on a bit more to be a tad stronger as that’s the only part that almost pulls me out of the song.
I don’t get into a lot of non-signed rap as it’s usually very rough around the edges. I do think if Selt Taught gets in contact with a top notch producer they will be able to explode. There’s definitely something that is a gem in the making here. The ideas in the track despite being sparse are very effective in their use. Like it’s a painting for the words rather than tons of crap tossed together and called finished. If you can look past the rough edges here you’ll find more explorative ideas on the CD. It’s not yet on iTunes, but it is available on CD Baby. Get it now and you can say, I was into them before…
