How many times are you waiting for something big in your life? Do you think some people get to wait for more big things than others? If so, why? If not, again, why? What would constitute waiting on something big? If you’re a girl, is waiting for something big akin to getting asked for your hand in marriage? If you’re a guy, is waiting for something big similar to getting the Vice President position after only a year on the job, but having to wait for it to kick in?
How about starting your own business and having to wait on the financing, is that big? What about getting music from an artist that deserves recognition? Would you wait until your ability to have freedom of speech is taken away before you would take a stand to fight and get it back. What if your classroom is under fire from a crazed gunman, would you cower and wonder when you’ll be hit, or would you take action? How long would you wait. Would you be a hero when you do something to survive?
Will you wait to retire? Once you retire, would you fly to your new home or take a leisurely ride?
See I know I have funding coming. It’s been frustrating to wonder when it will come in in order to kick start the business into high gear.
I wonder exactly what it was that Tyler Hilton was thinking when he decided to write this song. I’m wondering lyrically anyway. Musically speaking this is a very well crafted piece of music. The melody is a smokey traverse through a well healed chord progression. Tyler has a voice that feels like it’s got a lot more mileage and wisdom than it’s true age. In that respect it’s like Marc Broussard (that’s the biggest sounding black guy in a tiny white body, ever). Tyler is more like a seasoned blues player with all the trimmings of pop craftiness.
I do have to wonder what exactly is a whoopdy or is it whoopty. I guess I find it weird that a white guy with a bit of an Elvis look to him is tossin’ out something like that especially when it relates to a classic car. Actually attempting to analyze these lyrics isn’t the smartest thing to do because this is way more about a great melody and cool production. The chorus is fantastically catchy, that cannot be denied. He’s also got some great players in on the recording, that’s bright as well. It looks as though he co-produced, but I have to think it was mostly Geza X, Rick Parker, and Paul Fox. Two names that jump out for the instruments – Tim Pierce and Josh Freeze.
Josh is hands down the best drummer I’ve ever seen live. He’s insanely amazing. He’s also the only drummer I’ve ever seen who when he fucked up, he fucked in time – it was unbelieveable. Tim Pierce is also a fantastic guitarist. So bust out the cash and show some loving for the great players, the smart songwriter and their creation.
(** Disclaimer: If Tyler’s label decides it time to come give me a hard time, I’ll have to explain it’s time to go to the audio. The post will remain as an experiment to see who’ll answer all my questions. **)
