***** End Update *****
Today was an exercise of standing on the edge of insanity. Mostly in an effort to help fix a computer from nearly 1,000 miles away from the machine with the problem, attempting to guide my mom through the task at hand over the phone. My mom is generally pretty savy with a computer at this point. However, this is involved stuff when a computer starts exhibiting strange behavior and stuff is getting lost. It’s at a time like this when you say, it would have been a great idea to have a clone backup of your system.
So, I sent her an old external harddrive I had so that in the future she can clone the drive and back it all up. Thus when something like this happens again, it will be much less of an issue. At least that’s the intent. I’ve started getting religious about backing stuff up. It’s come in handy because I’ve now had my 4th harddrive failure not long ago. Remember when I actually had one day with no post since this whole thing began? Hard drive failure amongst other things. I had it all backed up, though it’s still a pain in the, at least all is not lost.
But attmepting to walk someone through the maze of porting stuff over a backup that isn’t a clone to attempt to find files so that e-mails and contacts don’t get lost, along with music and photos, isn’t an easy task and it can be a trying experience. I have a little salvation though in Maia’s song.
I came across Maia sometime earlier this week. From the moment the music came streaming through my speakers I was like “wow”! That’s some fantastic song writing. Maia has a flow, a feel, a style that is extremely pleasing. It’s no wonder she’s becoming an in-demand writer that has placed songs with some big time artists. The only disappointment is that this album is not available on iTunes. Maia has chosen this to be a limited release CD. While I can understand it, I’m not sure I’d do it myself. Thus if you’re swingin and swayin to this song, I highly recommend you click that CD cover and thee to CD Baby and snap up that CD immediately before there are none left.
If I spent time putting up more than one song from an artist and a single album, I would put up every song on this CD. Unfortunately the only artist whom I put up more than once with the same album/project is myself, even then I try to do it no more than once a month.
The part where this song really takes me in the creative brain is when it hits the chorus. The double timed melody streams down like a flowing river dancing down and around rocks while pushing through an eddy or two. It’s so smooth as a transition that it makes me want to rethink my own songwriting skills. The words definitely help this flow and it’s probably the main reason it works. It’s singable. The melody across the chords is slick too. Not too many rapid fire 16th note runs in vocals work as well as this one does.
When you visit the CD Baby page, take note of what some of her peers are having to say. It’s certainly more flattering than what I’m throwing about. Remember it’s a limited release, don’t delay in getting it. If you see a tour date near you on her website, best jump on seeing that show as well.
