Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you feel like an apple… Oh, you mean you don’t know that candy slogan? See there are two candy bars called Almond Joy and Mounds. When I was much more little than I am now there was a commercial for them. The slogan and song was “Sometime you feel like a nut, sometimes you don’t.” Being that Almond Joy was the same thing as Mounds only it had almonds in it. Well Mounds was supposed to have apple in it, but at the last minute the candy maker changed their minds and took it out. The rest is history.
If only I had come up with that on April Fools that would have been fantastic. That previous paragraph is bullshit. Wouldn’t it make for a much better backstory to the candy though? Ah, I can dream right?
Just like today’s song. Jared had originally had all of this music scored with real musicians. Everyone knew their parts and were ready to play. All of a sudden at the last minuted he changed his mind and went with computer enhanced replacements. The result is nothing less than fun to listen to. Lots of little noises and samples to tickle your inner ear canal with.
I like the way it builds up. More and more parts coming in. The strings building. The synths playing complimentary counterpoint lines. Lots of movement. Actually I’m envisioning a cool movie trailer or say a mystery scene or even better a scene from something like the Bourne Identity. Wait, the next one is The Bourne Ultimatum. See where I’m going with this? I have a feeling that Jared could easy score a spy movie. Any filmmakers out there in need of good spy music?
As for Jared really recording with real musicians and changing his mind. Eh, that’s not true. Again, better for April Fools. It is actually done all computer based with loops and samples. Though it does make for a more inventive backstory right? If only we could re-write history like that and make it so. Jared’s a cool bloke, show him some lovin and pick up a new soundtrack to your sneaky life.
Arrgghh! Sould have just stuck with the first paragraph without admitting the bullshit. More fun that way. 😉
