I almost put the bolded Sunday’s Child title on this. Well, actually Thursday’s Child, but who’s really keeping track? I’m not, cause I didn’t do it. So there. I know what a Wednesday’s Child is. I came up with Sunday’s Child for the blog. Idea’s escape me for what a Thursday’s Child is. Web hunting for a bio yielded less that what I had hoped for in terms of why the band used the name. Though I did find a website about troubled teens.
Hmmm, does trouble stem from not being Adored? The organization who’s site I came across seems to say so, but uses more negative verbage to get the idea across. Sure it sucks to be ignored. Erin’s dad wrote a book that is selling quite well. In it there’s a chapter about him losing direction and going through some troubled time. The group he visits talks about getting one to open up, know what they want, find their direction. Most of all, everyone wants attention, to be acknowledged, Adored.
Give it a few thoughts. Wouldn’t you feel happier if someone gave praise for good things you’ve done? Wouldn’t you feel happier if someone just acknowledged you for being there? I wonder if lots of problems stem from the fact that one doesn’t get the amount of attention they’d like. Do you think a thief would steal if they were recognized for something good they’ve gone in their past? Definitely something to ponder. Maybe that whole pay it forward thing is right, but maybe it needs to be balanced with recognition.
I would think Thursday’s Child would draw comparisons to The Cardigans. At least that’s what my estimated guess is for Christine’s voice. There’s fledgling rawness that has a spark to it, not her voice but the whole song and recording in general. Hooking them up with a top producer might cause them to blow up big on the scene and have lots of fame. I don’t think it would be too far fetched to hear Thursday’s Child on top 40 radio. They’ve got a pleasing sound and a front voice that is familiar without being to similar.
I don’t know if they’re directionless, but with a little bit your help (buying the music), they could create enough of a wave to gain the attention of such a producer. They best keep pluggin away to make the right connection and also keep writing the catchy tunes. I bet if you buy their song because you Adore them, they’ll reciprocate and Adore you. Go on, try it. I bet ya.
I love the group and the album. The lyrics are clever and Christine’s voice is absolutely beauiful. I definitely agree this group could be on top 40 radio and only wonder why they aren’t? Once you listen your hooked.
There is a mother goose rhyme that says different things about being born on each day of the week:
Monday’s Child is Fair of Face, Tuesday’s Child is Full of Grace, Wednesday’s Child is Full of Woe, Thursday’s Child has Far to Go
-Mother Goose
This might have something to do with it? Great sound! I LOVE this song!
