Imagine if you will a group of friends who get together once a week to play a game of poker. One has flown in from Israel. Another has come in from a long weekend in Vegas. One has spent the whole day doing construction, and so on down the line. It’s generally a friendly game and everyone has a good time. Midway into the game an intense hand comes into play. One player is upset with how the hand has played out to the turn and decides to back out but askes to see the river card. While the other player still in the hand says no. A confrontation begins.
Now, in a casino asking to see the final card is called Rabbit Hunting and is not allowed for good reason. Despite that, if the players tend to agree and the dealer is willing, it is sometimes allowed. In said game from last night, a player had refused and the one asking got bent out of shape. So the player who was dealing finally did the rabbit hunt at which point the player that backed out of the hand got pissed because he didn’t stay in.
A heated discussion ensued about it being a friendly game and that it should be allowed. Instead in order to calm everyone down, the host instigated a casino style rule that from there on out, no Rabbit Hunting unless all players in the hand agree. That’s it end of story. It was the first time that someone got heated in a bizarre way at the table at the home game. He’d just come off of winning a tournament in Vegas and essentially was on a roll. Yet being tired for him is worse than being drunk. As a drunk he mellows out and becomes happy. In being tired he’s animated and get agitated. All he probably really needed was sleep. Though he was unhappy that at a point in the game because something didn’t go his way after he’s been on a winning streak playing poorly.
The situation got diffused and everyone calmed down, the game went on and everyone was ok. That’s a good example of something where All’s Well that ends well. However, as it happens someone always feels slighted and continues drawing something out until they’ll just shut up. The same thing will happen between lovers, which is the condition of the song going on in your ears right now.
As it happens Florez has a very down to earth approach in how they represent themselves. It’s something that I appreciate while I’m trolling for music to bring to you. One thing I’ve started to notice is that artists call themselves the saviors of Rock ‘N’ Roll, or any other genre quite often should forget about writing any more music and should stop learning to play cause they just don’t get it. I’m also finding that when a band has talent and good writing skills, they generally have a more down to earth approach in explaining themselves, or smartly allow someone else to shout out the hype.
To me Florez is a right now sound. They have a right now feel. They’ve got current right now catch-y-ness. Which is a good thing for how they’re presenting themselves. As has been said about me by some pretty big names as of late, I would in turn say about these guys. They have star potential. It’s got a familiar vibe, but their writing isn’t blasé. That’s how a band can get onto a road of their own. I expect to hear something even more brilliant in the future, especially if they get hooked up with a kick ass producer that gets what they’re doing.
In the mean time, give them some lovin’ and don’t let it end. Grab the song on iTunes or better yet do some exploring at CD Baby, they’ve got several CD’s.
