As you might know I’ve become a fan of Heroes, the TV show on NBC. There’s a character played by Ali Larter. Ooooooh, actually it’s two characters played by Ali Larter. She plays Nikki and Jessica. For all accounts you wouldn’t be able to distiguish between them by look. But rather by action and a tattoo. One is the sweet doting mother, the other is a vicious kniving superhuman strength whirlwind.
I’m impressed with how Ali handles the role. It’s really as if she has experience at having multiple personality disorder. Then again, she’s an actress and they should have the ability to act like anything. But there is a scene in which she’s being interviewed by a lawyer about the split personalities and the way she moves from one to the other is just clean and freaky. It makes you wonder if this is how people really do it when they do have such a disorder.
Then you’ve got musicians like Prince or John Cougar Mellecamp. Hmmm, or is it the symbol and John Mellencamp, or John Cougar? Prince’s change from a name to a symbol was theorized as a way to get out of contract, that failed. Interesting. Then there’s John. He builds a good following of fans early in his career then starts changing his name to different variations. Kinda makes you wonder if he was experiencing different moods or being a different person. While I was much too young to follow all this during his heyday, I can look back upon it now and say, well he’s a Fallen Friday at this point.
I dare say, despite him having a good long run in the music industry, it’s time to hang the hat. It won’t stop me from diggin certain songs from different incarnations of his name. I’ve chosen today’s song from his John Cougar days. I don’t know why I’m reminded of it, but it does make me think of when my parents uprooted my sister and I from New York and took us to Park City, Utah to live. What change of pace that was. Anyway, that’s a bit of what I get as a memory to the song. It has absolutely nothing to do with the lyrics, oh well.
(** Disclaimer: If John Cougar, or John Mellencamp, or John Cougar Mellencamp or any of his renditions or labels decides I’m in need of medication for too many personalities, I’ll have to bite my tongue and erase the audio from my memory. The post will remain to show I like Heroes of all kinds. **)
