Ah, the memories… I schooled at University. I remember being familiar with the song, but never really cared about it until I was of near legal drinking age. At this point I have compounding memories around this song. In the past couple of years, I’ve been befriended by a man named Robert Karwin. He happens to be what I would call the heir apparent to Jimmy’s throne.
Bob, as I call him sometimes, writes music that is very much in the style of Jimmy Buffett but remains in Bob’s realm. He’s made some inroads in the Parrot Head club. The fan club to all stuff Buffett. He’s performed for different events around the country for them. In fact, if I’m not mistaken, on his last record Bob had a guest performer from Buffett’s band.
In his alter life, Bob is an attorney. He’s been very handy for me to get advice from. It’s always nice to have lawyer friends whom you can call in a moment of need. Bob’s a good one. Enough of my yappin about his ability, here’s his website Karwin Law. I’ve also featured him on Single of the Day a while back.
Anyway, today is a day I’d like to be out in Margaritaville. Why don’t you come join me?
(** Disclaimer: If Jimmy’s label or Jimmy himself is unhappy with my vacation spot, I’ll have to wring out the audio from the server and sand. The post will remain to explain my escape. **)
