Oh to be a hobo. That’s pretty much the very first thing I envision should life fall completely apart. You don’t need to be able to hear out of both ears. You don’t need much money. Just a pair of pants, a shirt, a pair of shoes, a stick with a hankerchief tied to the end filled with some animal crackers and I’m all good. Where’s that Union Pacific when I need it?
There’s a lack of fun when you’re not feeling 100%. In times like that I like a little escape with the ol’ imagination. That’s exactly what I got when I came across this song. I felt transported to a time when I would sit watching Sesame Street in my afternoons. Sesame Street would lead into Mr. Rogers too. I’m pretty sure that I’d catch his trolley into make believe with King Friday any day of the week.
I have to think that my ear is a result of something weird going on internally. The ringing hasn’t gone away. I woke up stuffed up in the head again and I’m coughing like something ugly should be coming out but it’s not. ARGH. There were points throughout the day when the ringing would subside, but it’s not giving up which is disappointing. I can remember the first time I had ringing ears. It was after a concert and long before I learned about ear plugs. I couldn’t hear for 3 days straight. Ringing in both ears. Going to class wasn’t much fun when you couldn’t hear what was going on. Then after the 3rd day it went away. Since then I haven’t had a ringing in my ears, of course until the past week. I don’t intend to bore you with it.
Rolling punchy groove. That’s what I really dig about this song. A tall glass of grandma’s lemonaid, a couple of friends and this groove. While most kids don’t groove, I can imagine that they’d be tapping the 10 little toes to this. Besides when you’re a kid who doesn’t want to be an engineer on a locomotive? I know I did. How cool would it be to toot the whistle and sit up front as you cruise the countryside? Very cool.
From what I gather Dan is gearing this at the children’s market, but I’ll be damned if it’s not great for adults too. It most certainly is. If you have a kid, I’m thinking you’ll want to dig into a whole lot more of Dan’s material. He’s got a bunch of CD’s available. If you don’t have kids, well at least this song is one you’ll likely be humming and tapping your foot to. It’s just not possible to not to. It’s toe-tapping good (kinda like finger licking good, only different). Get it!
