So I went to an E.N.T. doc yesterday. He took some time to listen to me relay what has been going on with my ear. Then he took out some instruments (non musical of course) and began looking into spots on my body that are probably fairly hard to see into. My nose and ears namely, though he also looked into my throat briefly too.
First thing he says is… Ooh, deviated septum – have trouble breath through your nose? My response was, not until recently. After which he took another instrument shoved it in my nose and pressed some button. With seconds I had clear nasal passage, and total breathing. I don’t know what it was, and I’m afraid to ask. Then he starts looking into my ears with some big thing hanging from the ceiling. I told him about what happened to me in the 1st or 2nd grade where my ear got traumatized with a pencil by rupturing my ear drum. Some dope in my class was cruisin’ along with a pencil in his hand and oops into my ear it went while I was sitting at my desk.
The doc confirmed seeing a scar on my left eardrum, which is the ear I’m having the big issue with at the moment. He also asked if I had an ear infection as a child, which of course I did. He said he could see that in my right ear. Uh, ok. Then as he’s looking into my left ear he says, this is odd…
Shooting through my mind is: what is odd? why is there something odd in my ear? Of course I ask, what? He tells me he can see a hair on my ear drum like it had been fused to it with something and that it was obviously irritating it. Well, to me, that sounds trivial and hope that it’s not hard to remove and possibly the cause of my problem. He gets some strange type of tweezer and goes into the ear. He tells me I’ll hear some snap, crackle, pop and instantly I’m thinking, the cereal? Nah, I’m only kidding, I didn’t think that. At which point I hear him brushing against my ear drum.
He starts plucking at it and after three tries he gets it out. Apparently a clipping of hair about 1/4″ long was in there against the ear drum stuck on with like a scab or something. He hands it to me to see and I can tell where it was stuck to the ear drum. Weird. WEEEEEEEEird. In process of pulling it off the ear drum, I could feel the tugging, it was strange, not really all that painful – in fact, not at all. I don’t know if that’s good or bad.
I felt a little relieved about it and how simple it was. He told me he didn’t see any infection, another bonus. Then gave me some vitamins geared for my ear’s health, uh ok – I’m into natural stuff but that’s a little strange. I’m to take them for a couple of weeks to see what happens. If my hearing doesn’t fully restore then I’m to go back in for a test of the inner ear to find out if there’s some other issue causing the ringing.
I can tell that some of my hearing has come back as I write this. However, it’s still not 100%. I still think there’s some muffling going on on the left side. But at one point last night I noticed that the ringing seemed to have disappeared for a little bit. Though right this very second, it’s there. I’m hoping that it was really just my ear drum being pissed clean off that it had a hair clipping on it and that it was screaming at me to get it off. Maybe he’s still not quite done screaming even though the hair is gone. I don’t know.
I do know, that I will be very bummed if the ringing does not go away very soon. Despite it being fairly low in volume, it is very very very very annoying. I’m used to dead silence when there is no music or sound happening around me. I don’t want to get used to this pitch in one ear, going on and on and on and on… As I said though, I think there is hope since I did notice for about minute last night that it was gone. Oooh, it’s gone again for a moment. Yippee.
Now, I realize that today’s song is not directly related to ears (apparently it’s geared for the base of your spine that’s what I’ve read about Chakra 1 anyway). What it is is related to getting your body in order. So that’s where I’m making my connection to this. In fact the artist Crystal Gyspy is into the use of crystals for energy and healing as well. It’s the driving force behind her music if I’m not mistaken. In addition to being into the healing arts of crystals Tania is an in demand keyboard player who has played for some very notable artists such as: Kylie Minogue, Jamie O’Neal, Willie Nelson & Michael McDonald. Pretty cool stuff in my book.
If you haven’t been thoroughly grossed out by my adventure and you’re not overly relaxed by the music you’ve been reading to, I strongly suggest that you explore more of Crystal Gypsy. It’s the perfect album for unwinding your day to. I could really experience this in front of a nice fireplace with a glass of red wine, a little fire and the perfect reclining chair. Not exactly the yoga moves as it is designed for, but it’s what I would want to hear in a quaint and quiet setting as I’ve just described. So get the CD, I think it would be better than just the one song.
In addition, I would suggest heading to her website and checking out the jewelry, it’s pretty cool. I plan on getting something made to have a one of a kind necklace of some type. I just gotta think of what I want it to be. Now go and get healthy! Oh and keep some good thoughts out for my ear (it’s started ringing again, argh).
