Eerrrrrrrrrrrrt!
180.
Take a step back.
Draw in a deep breath.
Relax.
Exhale.
Whew.
Snap back to reality. I know I’m going to be going nuts with Christmas music and stuff for the next couple of weeks. As a large portion of us will. I spent a good deal of my day yesterday cleaning up and perfecting some artwork that my dad drew for the Christmas album I’m finishing up.
I also decided to take matters into my own hands with the mixing of one of the songs. It seems I hadn’t given Chris all the files, so to save time I decided I’d do that one. Plus I felt like I had a good idea with where I want to take it. Thus instead of Chris doing a mix and then me making notes about it. I’ll be doing that mix, and he’s gonna make notes. A little role reversal.
Have you ever done role reversal? I’ve seen it in movies where two characters play each other so that the other can see what they’re like from an outside perspective. Hmmm… I did that recently at Halloween too. I know I posted about going to a party as one of my friends. He felt I didn’t do a good job of acting like him, claiming I did stuff he doesn’t do. However, everyone at the party felt I nailed him perfectly. Oh Well.
Getting back to that question, have you done role reversal? Do tell?
That’s part of the reason I chose today’s song, it’s a complete 180, a change in the normal Christmas/holiday spirit. Not only in genre, but also in title. Bad Weather Beach, fortunately I find the song a good change of pace. Did it shock you? I hope so, that was the point. I’m not on the up and up with great terminology for the style of music The New Law creates. I just know it’s electronic. It’s different. And different can be good.
Be different.
Stand on a chair and change perspective.
Take a bigger breath than normal.
