I don’t expect too many people will be reading today’s post. Mostly because it’s likely they’ll be spending it with family and/or friends. In America at least. The day of the big feast that is to celebrate the Pilgrims and the Indians getting together. Chances are you were traveling either yesterday or today attempting to get to your destination. This is one of the toughest weeks to travel in the United States. So many people are working on heading home to spend time with loved ones that stuff happens.
The freeways get jammed with traffic. The airlines are generally packed and often overbooked. Then there’s the trains too. Hmmm, sounds like a movie idea. Yeah, we could follow a business on his attempt to get home in time for the holiday. Oh wait. I saw that movie. It’s called Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Steve Martin and John Candy, what a classic movie about Thanksgiving. My favorite scene has to be when he’s at an airport waiting to take to the car rental lady after he’s been left at the parking lot with keys to a car that’s no longer there. Too funny.
I figured today would be ideal for a somewhat relaxing song. Why not? After a great meal and a little TV, there’s usually the mandatory nap on the couch. Steve Morse is a phenomenal guitarist and has two great albums that all music lovers should have. This particular song “The Road Home” comes from one called High Tension Wires. I’m pretty sure that title is directly related to the guitar.
Steve has influenced numerous guitarists, including yours truly. I can guarantee that if you explore his solo efforts you’ll find many things to get lost in. Lots of great music. I’m gonna ask you to spend a little money on Steve. He deserves it.
(** Disclaimer: If Steve’s label decides to bring their money road to me, I’ll be extricating the audio into the ether. The post will remain to celebrate Thanksgiving. **)
