I realize that some of you who have been following the blog for a while will wonder what the fuck I’m doing today. Why the hell would I repost a particular video of a song. Chances are in the lifetime of this blog it won’t happen very often. Today though is a special occasion. Actually yesterday was the Just Plain Folks Awards for 2006. Often called JPF for short. I’ve mentioned it here on the blog before, but for the sake of new readers I’ll repeat a bit about them…
JPF is the largest songwriters organization in the world with over 40,000 members in something like 170 countries. It’s pretty darn big. For this years awards they had over 25,500 CD’s submitted. That equated to over 350,000 songs. Bigger than the Grammys, bigger than CMA’s, AMA’s, and any other music awards that you can think of. It consists mostly of non-signed artists but now even big names are creeping in, like Tiffany, Sheryl Crow, and Vertical Horizon, etc.
Well last night my video for Falling In was crowned the Best Music Video! That’s right my peers and music industry peeps felt my video topped ’em all. Thus that is why I’m reposting it for today. I want you to see what a video can be with a little imagination. If you’re reading this on a syndicated feed and you haven’t seen the video visit the website or visit my official website: www.jodywhitesides.com and watch Falling In.
I also received 2nd place for Best Rock Instrumental for Tracking Motion, so I will likely feature that song next, probably on Tuesday. I got 3rd place for Children’s Storytelling Album for The Radio Adventures of Dr. Floyd. I was also nominated for Best College Rock Song for Falling In and Best Rock Album for Practical Insanity. Obviously I’m gonna tell you if you don’t have my music now, you best get on the ball and buy a CD or iTunes of the song.
There was a lot of fantastic music throughout the night. In all I had a great time and obviously I was ecstatic to win an award and be recognized out of such a large range of submissions! It certainly makes one feel like they’re doing something worth while. I can’t even explain how cool it is.
