Thank God it’s Friday right? TGIF. Where the hell did the saying ever come from? Does it even really apply anymore? Seriously, if you’re a person that uses that expression, or regularly patrons the restaurant, tell me why. I really want to know. That saying should have gone out around the time of high-button shoes.
I’m feeling the juice of being near completion of a huge recording project. Yesterday went absolutely fanstastic. To the point that all I can say is wow. Danniella Gaha is literally saving my ass in the vocal department. She is an amazing vocalist and I’m happy that she’s so well versed in harmonies especially for Christmas music.
Speaking of people who have amazing voices… Todd is one of those individuals who has a voice. It’s highly trained. I ought to know, I taught him everything he knows. Yeah, right. NOT! Actually Todd and I traded some our expertise a few times. I showed him some stuff about playing guitar. He attempted to show me something about singing. I think he had his work cut out for him showing me singing stuff cause I learned the hard way – trial and error. Which as anyone knows is probably the worst way to become a vocalist. It’s probably the best way to ruin your voice. Unfortunately, I’m sadly in need of a lot more lessons.
Since that time, Todd has met a lovely woman, fallen in love and moved away from Los Angeles. He’s now residing in Arizona if I remember correctly. I could just look it up in address book – but that would take all the fun out of being a rebel relying on his memory. As you’re listening to this, you’ll hear just how smooth and in control Todd is of his voice. It’s on par with my buddy Jeff Soto (you remember the guy who is now Journey’s singer). Reality is Todd has greater control and schooling over Jeff, whereas Jeff has sheer power and raw talent. They’re both amazing singers and I don’t even pretend to be in their league.
Turns out this song by Todd is nominated for the 2006 Just Plain Folks awards. Not bad for it to stand out like that. While this isn’t my usual cup of tea, I can certainly hear the prowess going on here. It’s great writing and great playing. If he’d only give me a chance to make him rock out on a song, I’d probably turn him up to 150 and force him loose. Would it work? Who knows, only one way to find out. Until that happens I think it’s safe to say if you need a relaxing way to spend some time with a loved one, this is the soundtrack you need. Buy it and love it. May it become the “our song” for you and your partner in crime.
Obviously I just ran out of words.
