Let’s see, I seem to remember talking recently about a girl named Corina. Ah yes, it was on the blog post about Melanie Doane’s “I Can’t Take My Eye’s Off You”. I guess I could be on a little vision kick. Oh, but this is a song that can directly remind me of Corina. She was so into this style, in fact I remember her once telling me “I’d have sex with Axl Rose right on the street if I saw him.” Lovely thing isn’t it?
Anyway, I was learning to play guitar when this came out. I never thought much of Lita, but I really loved Ozzy, so anything he did I listened to. Thus Lita is today’s choice for Fallen Friday. Ozzy just happens to be along for the ride, but he’s not going over the cliff yet. I doubt he’d ever be a Fallen Friday.
Going back to Corina. At one point I’m guessing I must have had a proximity infatuation with her (bonus points for naming that movie reference). Obviously over time and a lack of actually seeing someone that kinda tends to remove such infatuations. Thus it was my need to extricate her from my life that I chose to close my eyes about her. Funny how I’m blabbing about it on a blog though. I really don’t think I’ll really ever close my eyes to anyone from my past. Unless they owe me gobs of money and there’s a couple of them out there.
Would you ever close your eyes to someone? Better yet, have you? What were your reasons? Love, Money, Anger, Pain? Feel free to comment here about it, it’s cathartic. Get it out in the open. Share with your fellow music lovers.
As for the production here, it’s pretty much commercial rock from that era. The thing that really sticks out in it is the guitar solo. It’s harmonized all the way through. I would venture a guess they used an Eventide H3000 which was the coolest effects processor at that time. I used to read the magazines the learn all about gear. I was a tone geek. Actually I still am.
I don’t expect you’ll run right out to get it, but I’ll still say it should be a part of the collection of any music lover. If for nothing else than the fact Ozzy is singing on it.
(** Disclaimer: If Lita’s label attempts to come close my eyes forever, I’ll pull the audio right off to prevent permanent blindness. The text will remain to be seen forever. **)
