This Sunday’s Child is just so not right. I mean c’mon. I happened to catch these guys, Moke, once at the House of Blues in Hollywood. They were opening for one of my favorite bands of all time, King’s X. I liked them so much, I bought the CD right there at the venue from the Merch table. I really ended up diggin the look and the accent of the band. The leader was a black guy with all dreds. They’re from England. Can’t go wrong there. They ripped it up. They were amazing. Smooth sound, great feel, and cool melodies.
That was a great night of music. Why? Another friend of mine’s band, Numira, played opening for Moke. In fact, I’ll have to post them on here at some point in the future. They were a great band.
I’m sure everyone in life has come across someone in their lives that has done a number on them. Lied, you know pulled some shit and you found out about it. Or maybe you were the person that pulled some shit and someone found you out. I know I’ve found someone lying to me once, it was a harmless lie thankfully but it wasn’t cool none-the-less. But in the past year, I’ve been dealing with someone who made some promises and to this day over a year later has yet to deliver. Unfortunately this situation has seen me spend an enormous amount of money with no return. That’s some serious shit.
Most of the time, my lies are harmless. Take for instance my best lie in the past month. I was playing a poker tournament at the final table and decided to raise in front of the big blind by going all in. I had a pair of 5’s. But the big blind was hemming and hawing about wanting to push all in. He asked me if I was holding Aces. I looked him square in the eye and told him yes. I was calm cool and collected. He was squirming around not sure what to do. Finally after about 2 minutes he mucked his hand in disgust, but before doing so asked if I would show him the Aces. I actually didn’t hear him ask and I mucked my cards too. But he did get someone to ask me to show one of the cards. I showed him a 5. He was bummed. I went on to win that tournament. I don’t believe I’ve ever lied or made a promise that caused someone serious pain. Have you?
One thing that bums me out about this band is that they’ve broken up, and they don’t have a website, only a myspace page. Its very sad that a band with this type of talent, already toured the UK and the States, and rocks with such intensity isn’t on iTunes and doesn’t have their own website. Very odd indeed. I would think you’ll be able to find this CD in the UK with much more ease than one will be able to in the US. Maybe you can contact them via their myspace page and find out if they’ll sell you one. I’d bet they’d be happy to hear from you. Buy it, it’s great stuff.
(** Disclaimer: If Mokes label decides to promise me a lawsuit, I’ll be erasing the music off the server as fast as a little white lie can come undone. The text will remain. **)
