I’d like to pretend that yesterday didn’t happen. Well, that’s not entirely true, some good things did happen yesterday. My peeps at the Apple store did make good and replaced a new 30″ monitor that had an issue. Swapped it right out after examining it. That was a good thing. Only a little sad that a monitor that new would have an issue that soon. Two friends did call me and that cheered me up a bit. I did end up having a good dinner and gorging myself with too much water as I felt dehydrated for some odd reason. Two movies made up my evening. So in all I really shouldn’t have been all that down about it.
This morning seemed to come early. But it’s a great morning. Sunny, not a cloud in the sky. One of those days where the defining reason as to why people move to Southern California is reiterated. It’s gonna get up to 24c today (that would be roughly 75f for all the American peeps). Which is probably the perfect temp. Not overly hot, not too cool, but just right.
I will make some phone calls to see where things stand in my world. But I do plan on sitting in the yard and ploughing through some more lyrics. I’ve still got about 46 songs that I’ve got to finish with rough drafts. Sadly I’ve still got more ideas pouring out musically and it’s getting tough to keep up.
Seeing as how I need to get moving, I’ll leave you with today’s pick from an artist out of Canada. I’m not sure how long it’s been since I’ve had a primarily guitar and vocal tune here, but that’s now over. There is a hint of drums creeping in partway through the tune, but they don’t seem to pull it away from the singer/songwriter vibe that defines the song.
Serena has a familiar quality to her voice. A bit of a shaky vibrato sprinkled over the top of a more original flavor. It’s that shaky vibrato that ties her to some other artists that I’ve heard. It’s got a rustic vibe that would work well in a down-to-earth setting. I could see people coming to a show clear out to places like Torrey Utah. Don’t know where that is? Look it up on Google maps.
I had trouble finding her CD to which this came from. Actually that’s not entirely true. I found it on iTunes which is my first place I look. However, this particular CD is not at CD Baby like her previous one. It is also not found at Amazon. At least I couldn’t find it. Then I realized something. It’s an EP and it’s probably a digital only release. Seeing as how she’s now signed to a label. I’m guessing they’re experimenting with a lessor known artist. Little do they know, you now know who she is. Want the CD? Go write her peeps and complain.
In the meantime, enjoy your day. Mine is spring, but I hear some parts are still getting some snow. I’d like to be there to ski it!
