You know you don’t have time when you’ve got a million things draggin on you all at once. That’s been my morning. It’s that transition time with the whole switching seasons (what little change we actually have here in Los Angeles). Daylight is coming way early, which tends to wake me up sooner than I want.
Today I got phone calls, e-mails, and frustration at the top of the morning. While attempting to do a workout I’m confronted by a co-writer attempting to hurry me through a song mix (not something I take kindly too). Then the people that are working on a website that should have been finished two months ago today got online to tell me that there are elements to the concept that are impossible. They tried to tell me that they’ve been working 12 hour days for the past two months on the website. Which I called bullshit on. I knew it wasn’t true and they admitted to it when I confronted them on that one. At this point I’m in talks with another developer to take over the site, hopefully I can make the jump if they’re not too costly. They claim they can deliver what I want in a week. I’m doubtful, but they come recommended so we’ll see.
Add to that several more people vying for attention (including phone calls about business plans and funding) and you get my morning. I haven’t had a moment to sit and think. Let alone get to the Single of the Day. That’s all changed now. I got a mix for another song I’m writing with Shairah sent off a moment ago. Still working on finishing two songs with her. After this post, I’ll be getting to a song that requires immediate attention for finishing today.
Lots of busy work is what it seems like, don’t it? Not to mention needing to meet with a business manager later today. Seems like TMI don’t it? Ok, I’ll hush on that now.
Time to focus on Farryl. Firstly, I’d like to say that is one of the most original names I’ve ever seen. Right there is something that causes one to stop and think, who is that? He appears to have a fairly storied past and hails from Africa.
I like his vibe. It’s an easy going thing, just what I needed for my morning that seemed like it was too many things pounding all at once. Is it an American phenomenon on “Tax Day”? Maybe the world will breath a sigh of relief tomorrow. While you’re stressing out about getting those tax forms in today (provided you’re in America as a tax payer) I suggest mellower music like today’s choice. Nothing overbearing. A great sense of flow. The kind song that causes you to relax and bob your head slowly back and forth. Attribute that to the nice 12/4 feel. I liken it to a three over four feel. One of my favorite divisions to work in.
I kinda wonder if the world has more of a three over four feel. For some reason songs with this feel always seem to flow better to me in terms of a rhythm. Go figure. What do you think?
Oh and grab Farryl a method of stress release. Legally of course.
