Yesterday felt like an errand day though it wasn’t all about errands. I wonder if having assistants that do day to day stuff is really worth it. One thing that has happened recently is the transmission on my auto is acting up. Had to run to the transmission expert I know. Originally thought to be a clutch problem (yes I drive a stick) has turned out to be a transmission problem. Not fun.
But before that it was a conference call on a trailer cue and a quick recording session to make changes to the cue in order to get it closer to finalized. Now it’s the hurry up and wait game for the studio to see if they like the trailer edit and cue.
Then it was a trip across town to pick up a check for a mixing job I did for a car company for a promo video with an American Idol.
Cue the da da dah music as the next trip took me across the valley to speak about music.
Amidst that came a phone call for an artist looking for a place to do vocals and needed a studio immediately. I pushed back some dinner plans and shuffled him in. A nice bloke doing some religious oriented music. Came in, knock his parts out and was on his way. Then off to dinner.
Whew. Whirlwind day.
I’ve got a few things lined up today, but not nearly as hectic. I have a rehearsal with Aubrey Richmond for a gig we’re playing tonight at the infamous Icehouse in Pasadena. Then it’s off to the Icehouse to perform and back home to grab some sleep.
In the meantime, let’s get to some music…
I’m feeling a little eclectic this morning and I’m fortunate enough to have had something interesting come across my laptop today. Those that know me, know that I wear a lot of jeans. I used to wear Levi’s exclusively. That’s changed in the past few years, but I still have several pair. Levi’s were the defacto standard of jeans for a long time. I never thought of writing songs about them, but someone has taken a little time to express their world in a song utilizing the concept of Levi’s. Dala.
It’s a funky eclectic little ditty about a girl, a guy, and some jeans.
I’d be highly surprised if the brains that be at Levi’s don’t actually pick this song up and start doing some advertising with it. It would make a brilliant campaign based on the imagery that Dala puts into the song. The traveling the world, the sights seen, the love of two people, it would make for a really good commercial. Which is a big compliment for a fun song like this.
I’m bobbing my head back and forth and I’m already singing the line “I always come back to you…” Fun stuff.
Go get the song, you’ll be glad you did.
