Last night I went to dinner with my buddy Jeff Soto. He’s in town for a couple of days. He’s been all over the world for the past 8 months or so. He’s going to continue being all over the world for the next 12 months. So we don’t get to see each other often.
We were best friends when he met his ex-wife. Last night I was asked to serve him with the papers for his divorce. So essentially, I’ve now been there at the end too. What a crazy thing. There’s a slight twist of irony in there I suppose. She wasn’t keen on me being a roommate when they got their house, before they tied the knot. Then after I moved out it changed and she was friendly towards me. Now I’m sure that my name on those papers probably isn’t the easiest thing. Who knows. I’m the neutral party in the whole thing.
So we drank. I had a little bit of a issue getting up this morning. The margaritas must have had a delayed effect. Probably kicked in after I went to sleep. Woof.
In more positive news, I found out yesterday that my studio will be in the new Sound On Sound magazine coming in the next week or so. YES! I did some revamping of the room with the help of Paul White over in the UK. All done via e-mail and pictures. I’m sure I mentioned it here on Single of the Day a few times while I was going thru the process. Anyway, that’s quite cool to me. I think it turned out well and the article is cool. Booyah.
Thus I’m feeling a bit of love in the air. Not just any kind of love, a special brand of love. The kind of love that could make you weep. Deliverance anyone? (kidding). The Hillbilly Hellcats came across my speakers in the past few days and I suddenly thought, yes, this is appropriate for today. An old flame died, a new one has arrived, and I’m getting some luvin’ from across the pond. It’s all good. If only the Fox Sports Music Sup would hit me back, then my day would be complete.
In the meantime, I’ve got some rockabilly to sway to. Thus I’m passing it along to you. Why? Because we all want to feel needed, wanted and loved. Don’t we? I think so. What better way to get twisted on your road to lovedom than hillbilly style. Besides you need to have this for your music library should you ever find yourself somewhere where they don’t understand rap, metal, rock or pop. Best have something you can put on quick to prevent a beating. Go get it now!
