What a recovery. I had a slow day yesterday based on my Saturday night. Ouch! With that weekend behind me, I’d like to kick off this week sorta like I did last week with a song that represents an expansion of my world. When I hear this I’m immediately thinking that I’m somewhere in Italy or Greece. Probably in a café somewhere. Oh, I think I said that because I can smell fresh bread baking right now. No really, I’m making bread in my bread maker and it’s filling the house with the smell of fresh bread. Add to that sipping an ice blended chai or something and sitting on a patio with rustic furniture and a smattering of sun – mmmmmmm.
Then over the café’s sound system I hear a groovy rhythm slowly building in the air. I’m reading a paper, reflecting on the previous evening and slowly bobbing my head back and forth as the song builds. Maybe I’m joined by a pretty girl. Maybe, I’ve got a little grin as I hear a conversation next to me. It’s so amazing how music can illicit certain things in the mind.
I can’t pronounce the title of this song and I don’t care. From what I can gather reading Viktor’s website and CD Baby page is that, this is some sort of traditional song or rhythm. Maybe a Greek reader can comment and enlighten us all with a comment here. Either way, I’m groovin on syncopated nature of the melody. I think the Bouzouki is also part of the facination. It’s got a flavor all it’s own that is mezmorizing for a stringed instrument. It actually is bringing me back to why it is that I love the guitar as well. I remember how magical it sounded when I first wanted to learn to play.
I would like to thank Viktor for a song that is capable of bringing me so many different things to think about and spark memories. That’s cool thing. If you’re groovin on this as well, I would suggest exploring more of his CD. It’s not all this rhythmic but it definitely has flavor.
