Slinky.
That’s the first thing that pops in my mind from the moment the media player starts this song. Then comes that playful voice that gets you ready for Kim’s R ‘n’ B song. What’s crazy is that the melody in the chorus is extremely similar to a chorus of a song I wrote a couple of years ago with Lindy Robbins and Johnny Elkins at a thing called the Oneness Founndation. The song is called Angel In Disguise, I’ll have to make it a Single of the Day on a Sunday’s Child edition at some point (since it’s not on iTunes). It’s eerily similar in melody and rhythm. Strange.
Mmmm, slinky. Last night I was fortunate to attend the Rainbow Push Coalition dinner event. I got to see some music performed there by George Duke and James Ingram. It wasn’t so slinky but it was cool. My girlfriend used to work for Reverend Jesse Jackson and was rehired just for this event. It was funny at one point in the evening where her good friend who also helped put on the event, made it a point to introduce me to Jesse Jackson as the boyfriend of Erin, just so she could see the look on his face. A partial pause of thought before he smiled said hello and shook my hand. Jesse then took the three of us in his arms in a bit of a big group hug type thing. Nice gent.
I met several nice folks who helped put on the event, and even met some of the movers and shakers that contribute to the cause. All very nice people. I was impressed. A ritzy affair that’s for sure. It was a good experience to have.
I’m under the impression that Kim would have a bit of that charm in her as well. I think it’s that playful speaking she’s got going on inbetween the real singing she’s doing. The added bonus is that her voice has a smokey vibe that I really dig in a female voice. She’s also very confident in her delivery of the words and melody. I think the music would bowl me over hard if it was a little more over the top (read as – rocked out more). It works as it is and should easily entice you to part with your hard-earned sawbuck for the single. Don’t stop there though, check out the rest of her catalog. You could very well find some more gems.
