There’s still a slight tinge in the back of my throat. I guess I’m at about 97% over that flu. ARGH. When does it end? I hope today. I’m tired of this…
It will the first group writing session I’ve done with four people. Two guys, two girls, from three different countries. One is an actress – a fairly famous one. One is from the great white north with a smooth voice and wry sense of humor. One is from Holland, tall, and capable of devastating melodies. And finally one is quite simply a chord chemist with production chops. First things first… we’ll be voting on what to call ourselves.
Whilst I do the chicken running around with the head cut off thing until they arrive. I will leave you with today’s choice. Kate Nash and the song that’s perfect for Seinfeld – Mouthwash. I’ve heard it a whole lot in the past couple of weeks (prior to flu). As it was a model for a song I co-wrote with another co-writer I work with. Of course our song ended up nothing like it, but we all start somewhere on some things don’t we?
I do like the piano part, it’s very sparky. I also dig the drums, I like the flow. Kate has a voice that doesn’t turn me off. What I don’t get is the lyrics. To me they’re practically nonsensical. I think it’s more the hooky nature of the piano and the melody that has turned this song into a bit a sensation. Maybe that’s it.
If you need a soundtrack for your listerine or scope, this is it. I apologize to my readers/listeners from across the pond, I don’t know what brands of mouthwash is tops over there – leave me a comment to enlighten me. By all means, go get the song and gargle with it!
