The infamous daylight savings time has begun. Put on your racing caps because now it’s going to get darker later meaning you can do more in your day. Right? That’s the idea anyway. I’m more amazed that people don’t adjust the sleeping and schedule based on the rise and fall of the sun. I think that would be a little easier. I could be wrong.
Yesterday I finished a new song that I co-wrote with Johnny Elkins. A christmas song. Oh my, I’ve now written yet another christmas song. The mix is finalized and the last step is to get the mastering done. I’m awaiting word on a trailer I did music for, and I learned that a booker I was getting shows with was unhappy with a fan at a show (that’s weird).
I will likely hop in the car in little bit and head out for a random drive. It feels like a random drive day today. Get my head back into my headspace and then do a little bit of chores around the house. I’ll finish off the day with a little songwriting on a song I’m doing, I’ve got a good portion of the music done. I know the idea I want for a vocal in the chorus, I just need to work on the verses a little.
I suppose in a weird way the idea of daylight savings could be the impetus behind the idea in this song today. It couldn’t possibly be the idea of the wanting to see someone you love in daylight. Unless of course that idea was started on a day like today since there will be darkness earlier. Ha. Maybe I’m a tad insane right now. Especially since a friend decided to text me at five friggin thirty in the morning to tell me to set clocks ahead. Nothing like being woken up for that.
For some reason the idea of daylight savings kinda seems midwestern to me. Funny since it was invented by Benjamin Franklin. I’m not sure he was all that midwestern.
Anyway, enjoy a little country twang for your morning. There’s a sly little slinky groove going on here. It’s very reminiscent of an alternative rock thing in the guitars. Then they throw on the country vocals and the fiddle and now it’s alt. country. I have a friend, Aubrey, that could probably tear this song up on the fiddle. It would be fun to watch her do that. Until I see that, I’ll have to enjoy the recorded version.
Don’t got it, go get it and start prayin for more daylight – unless you’re a night owl.
