Raise your hand if you’ve seen Mr. Brooks.
I watched that last night. Not necessarily a horror movie, but a darn good thriller. If you haven’t seen it it certainly is a very good movie for Kevin Costner. A different type of roll for him and he does it very well. William Hurt plays a fantastic alter ego to Kevin. A perfect wise guy of a split personality.
The difference between the movie and today’s song choice though is that the movie is very methodical and very precisely thought out. Where as Wise Guys by Mostly Sunny is much more quirky.
The players in Mostly Sunny are a buffet of players from well known bands. Something that can easily happen here in Los Angeles because there are so many good players and the pool of who they know and hang around with is fairly small. Anyway, it’s probably more a labor of fun for this project.
The whole vibe of the material very much fits together well. Even the vocals which I wouldn’t normally be partial to, work exceptionally well in context of this music. That makes it magical. I could imagine it as a song on the soundtrack of a movie of something like Garden State or Juno. A very eclectic and hip type of movie. The kind of quirk that makes you go yeah, I feel just like that [when you’re feeling like an unpolished human].
Definitely something to explore. Go now. Do not pass Go, and explore the sunnier side of life.
This song is sung beautifly, wodderful cords, haunting sounds, yet tender voice. I love this song!!!!
