“Can’t we just be friends?”
I don’t think there is much more to say. Especially since there’s a boatload of songs about it and ironically two songs I completed yesterday ad to that sinking ship.
Without further ado I’ll say that I think Mr. DeGraw’s title of this song has summed up the sentiment pretty darn well. Sometimes its the really simple progressions that can yield a touching moment. There’s nothing super fancy going on harmonically. But the vibe so perfectly fits his story that it’s brilliant. Even if it’s about two people that do come together, while I’m referencing two people that aren’t getting together.
A great song to have for those who have ever been asked that aforementioned question. Go get it now and reminisce.
