The things we can accomplish. When you put your mind to something anything can become possible. That’s one the lessons I learned from renting The Karate Kid last night. Not sure why I did that, but I did – the rental I mean. Then again the theme came to me this morning as I was reading a story about Steve Jobs. There were snippets of memories from those who have worked with him. Apparently he can be brash, he can be caring, he can have a view of something, change his mind and according to these people, it would be like he never changed his mind – like his old view simply didn’t exist.
I have to wonder if this is a trait of creative genius types. I would wonder, however I don’t take the time to wonder it because I’m already like that. Generally if I change my viewpoint, I’m not likely to revisit the old viewpoint unless new data comes along to cause me to change it again. I know people that would back up my bullheaded-ness, the fact that I can be.
One funny moment last night during a poker game is that a buddy of mine came dressed in a black mock turtle neck and blue jeans. He was subconsciously dressed as Steve Jobs. So I nicknamed him Steve for the evening. Even more funny is he is a IT guy for PC’s. 🙂 We can all live in our on reality distortion fields right? It’s all part of jumping into the great unknown and live like we meant to do it.
Well, I said it and I meant it. Gabriel Mann that is. As I mentioned the other day I would pull him up as a solo act. I couldn’t wait. He’s a really cool vibe of a song. I’m in a space right now that I dig the electric piano thing with effects on it. Certainly gives me ideas for some production stuff that I’ll be doing on one of the many songs I’m in the midst of finishing. It’s all part of taking music to that next level. Hmmm, yet another reference to a Ralph Macchio movie (bonus points to the peeps that can name it).
Gabriel has a really nice knack for combining synth/sampled sounds with organic instruments. There’s a few artists I’ve featured here that have done that well. The cool thing is how he’s building the song up like he’s building a building. Catch the connection there. Once he’s built it he takes a moment to leap off and float a bit. Then comes the wings and the song takes off again. Will you decide to follow the craft? Will you be the wind under his wings and the rock to support the structure? I think you should!
p.s. – like I mentioned about Kyler and Adrianne, I’d be happy to do some co-writing with this bloke.
This entire CD is amazing — I SO drank the Kool-Aid!
