What a day. Never a dull moment right?
I’m a recent new member of the Recording Academy. You know, the folks that put on the Grammys. So far I’ve been to two events for them. Both have been cool. Last night was an event celebrating 50 years of change. Lots of talk about music and American culture. Then there were the performances.
Nothing like getting a chance to see some living legends perform in a small theater. Jerry Lee Lewis was brought up to play a couple of tunes. I haven’t a clue as to how old he is, but its impressive that he’s still up and playing Great Balls of Fire. Then there was John Fogerty, former leader of Credence Clearwater Revival. Still rockin. Closing his segment with his tune Fortunate Son. Other performers included Ryan Shaw, Musiq Soulchild, Chrisette Michele, DJ Hapa, and Natasha Bedingfield. All doing classic songs of change.
I almost snagged the chance to meet Natasha afterwards, but missed her by moments as I had food in my mouth. Bummer.
I got home and started remixing a video soundtrack I had been working on. Around 12:30 a.m. I could tell there were sirens going on. Lots and lots of sirens. This morning the news mentioned why. All I can say is wow!
Today’s pick came to my attention by a previous Single of the Day pick. I really liked the intro and verse the drums really gave the song a sense of urgency. Much like it had to be heard. And such is the reason why I turned around and picked it. The guitars are painting a sparse picture but it doesn’t feel incomplete. There’s a different ebb and flow in the song than what I’m normally used to. Hence a good reason to post while I’m yappin about change, or at least the Grammys are.
Jadiid don’t seem to have a physical location for the CD. Go get the song.
I love Jadiid’s music.
It’s nice knowing decent music can still be made nowadays.
