One thing is clear. The further you go along in life, the more valuable the lessons you learn in grade school become. Be fair to people. That’s a good one. Of course once you’re out of high school, or even in high school, that’s when people begin to segregate. I haven’t figured out that one yet. I was the rogue in high school. I was friends with pretty much everyone and every clique. The great thing is it led to having a lot of friends – kinda like how Myspace works now (amass those friends). I wonder if politicians were rogues in their schools too. Being the primaries and all today.
With people like Ron Paul, Clinton, Romney, Obama, and the like out gathering votes in New Hampshire and across other states here in America. A politician has to pander to get votes. They have to be liked and by a lot of people in our Republic.
On the flip side it means that it’s harder to be close friends with anyone in particular. It also means you have a lot of people who could get jealous. I’m thinking Kelly Tilghman is probably not a rogue and felt she could be safe saying some things she said recently. I mean c’mon, lynching Tiger Woods?!? That harks back to the instigator and the bully on the grade school playground. Stupid.
Which leads me to today’s choice. The Way It Is brings a melodramatic look back at the school yard. Instantly I’m reminded of a movie that has nothing to do with the song. That movie is Garden State. I’m betting I know one person who will fully appreciate this song solely for the vibe it gives for that movie. Claire – I expect a comment from you.
I like the lilting guitar line. I like the somber vibe. I don’t much somber music here, but this is one I’m happy to have here. Makes me wonder if the members of The Way It Is were rogues at their schools too. I can definitely hear this song as a soundtrack tune to a quirky movie. Any indie movie makers reading this should definitely contact The Way It Is, lots of songs right up the alley like this.
Need a soundtrack for the occasional day adrift, then add them to your iPod legally now!

The coolest fucking band around, just bad ass.
I can’t wait for them to come to Indianapolis.
