An amazing meal. A remote location within california. St. Orres in Gualala (pronounced oh-ala-la, at least that what I could gather). You should make it a must-do on your to-do things of things to do in life. Eat at this Inn. The meal last night was astoundingly good. It wasn’t only the food, it was the presentation. Everything was so well done in how it’s put together that it ranks up there on some of the best dinning I’ve ever had.
This morning was a bit of an extension of last night. Another well presented meal for breakfast. While there we were overhearing a family from another country. At times I thought I was hearing German, or French, even a little Swedish. Turns out they were Dutch. Being that I don’t believe I’ve ever heard Dutch before, I guess that’s why I was fitting the language into things I knew. Ultimately getting it wrong. Polite and interesting people.
Later today is yet another adventure in good food. This time in Santa Rosa. A fairly new pizzaria called Rosso. My sister was the architect on the project. An all organic pizza place where the chef even makes his own mozzarella by hand. That’s downright impressive and being that I’m a bit of a pizza snob, I can’t wait to try what Santa Rosa is raving about. The thing is, I’ve had a mind to create a restaurant for pizza that was all organic, however the punch has already been thrown and I’m behind. Alas, much is still my calling.
Still someone’s calling. That’s the idea, the vibe, I get from today’s selection. When you’re all wrapped up in someone else. Here it’s a case of a guy who can’t stop thinking about a girl. I can’t rule out a lesbian thinking about a girl – though I think it would be a bit funny with a guy singing it, if that were the case. I’ve mentioned how I first heard of Big Wreck before. I’ve also mentioned that they’re no longer together. It’s a shame.
I really dig how Ian gets a vocal styling similar to Chris Cornell, yet infuses it with a more pop edge. I’m supposed to see an old friend today in San Francisco late this afternoon. However, that’s not for certain. She’s been so busy as of late that she may blow me off. Anyone got suggestions of things to do while in the Bay? Or rather, The City? ‘Cause it’s not San Fran, oh no. That’s where they draw the line.
Even though Big Wreck is no longer making a dent in the musical world, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t support them. Get your head in their music. Pick up both CD’s or at the very least, get this song.
(** Disclaimer: If Big Wreck’s label decides to get up in my head, I’ll have to pull a memory eraser on the audio server. The post will remain to inform you that you need to visit Gualala and eat at St. Orres. **)
