Three months down into 2007 and so far it’s been a waiting game for me. I finally got an e-mail today that calmed me down a little, but if the prediction is incorrect (think about 2nd week of April) then I’m probably gonna have a meltdown. A meltdown of biblical proportions – as they say in the movies. Read the archives if you’re a new reader/listener to know what it is I’ve been waiting on.
As I’ve also been recently reminded I’ve been waiting on getting a tattoo to accompany my piercing. To make it more interesting my old guitar player and now vocal engineer Chris Hellstrom is supposed to be coerced or should I say cajoled into getting one with me. This coming from his wife. She wants him to get one. How many women do you meet that want their man to get a permanent image on them? Not many. So I’ve got that going on. I suppose it would probably be a good idea to finally figure out exactly what I’d like to have emblazoned on my person.
Also, if you’ve been waiting on a feature for the blog where you can read and post comments without having to reload the page, you’re in luck! Today is the first day in which you can read comments and post comments without the page reloading on you and starting the song all over. I finally got that worked out. Though I still have to make the process look a little better – it does work and works well. That was always buggin me and now it’s no longer an issue. I hope it leads to you putting your two cents in about songs I post here.
Today’s song comes courtesy of Todd Carey. Actually I’m pretty sure it was his manager that contacted me about a month ago. He was hoping I’d blog about him and his new CD so I listened and I said sure! Then I asked about the iTunes thing and they mentioned it wouldn’t be on until about now. Well, I got the notice that he’s now on iTunes and voilá. Todd’s got a nice middle of the road sound. It’s well put together. Thinking of who’s working on the CD it damn well ought to sound well put together.
I listened through the CD and decided that I like this song the most, and wouldn’t you know it, it’s the title track of the album. Smart choice they made there. I think the tightest thing about the song is the mix. It’s very very clean. In fact its probably one of the cleanest mixes I’ve ever heard. That’s something that I strive for in my own music. I don’t like to put things in that you’ll never hear in the muck. Every instrument should have a reason to be there and should be heard as it’s part in the musical painting whether it’s prominent or not.
I suppose the nature around my house is enjoying the music too. As I look up to the sky typing this I see some birds in the trees and on the telephone wires bobing their heads up and down in time to the music. Not something I’ve seen before. So either I’m in some weird dimension or they really can hear the music and dig it. So if Mother Nature is grooving on it, shouldn’t you? Go show Todd some love at iTunes.
