Well, it’s about time eh? All this talk about getting that feeling going I figure why not start today? I’m motivated for several reasons at this point. A few days back Erin called me on the phone and during the course of our conversation she mentioned that it had snowed 17″ inches in Park City. Funny I thought because I had spoken to my mother and she didn’t say anything about the snow when she usually does. I didn’t doubt it, instead I got excited. That’s right I got excited about snow. I love to ski. The interesting thing is that Erin mentioned that when she hears of Park City she instantly thinks about me. She’s not been there as far as I know.
Another reason is that I am literally a few days from finishing my giant Christmas music project of 30 songs. Three CD’s: Christmas Past, Christmas Present, Christmas Future. I’m working on getting the last of the mixes tomorrow to get to the mastering guy so he can get them done by this week. In the meantime I’m working on the artwork my dad did so that I can forge it into a ready state for iTunes submission over the weekend. Sometime late next week the release should be available for your consumption digitally.
Lastly, I watched a exploratory movie called “The Secret” last night. What got me to see it is that in no less than 2 hours I had two people ask if I had heard of or seen the movie. Most people that know me know that I’m a movie buff. I so miss seeing all the movies prior to the day they come out. You hear that Claire? I don’t watch TV, but I’ll spend time for movies – there’s generally a point in movies. So, I did a search for “The Secret” movie on the internet and found the web address. I electronically forked over $4.95 to watch a 90 minute movie via the net. That was a bit strange. I’m a forward thinking guy.
What is “The Secret” like? Have you seen “What the Bleep Do We Know?” It’s very much like that, only its geared towards the idea of the secret to life. It’s a simple concept and I realize that some people just do it naturally and don’t think about it. Often people want a complicated solution to any answer. Sometimes it’s the most obvious and simple answer that is what is needed. Get rid of the mucky muck and focus. I did notice that there are several of the same people from “What the Bleep Do We Know?” that are in “The Secret”. It’s no secret as to why they’re in both – its dealing with a similar idea only a little more focused and a lot less heady. Meaning you don’t have to expand your mind to genius level to fully realize how to understand it.
One of my primary goals is to share great music on this blog. I also wish to spread some good feelings and brighten your day. Often I’ll get private responses to things I’ve posted. People who tell me they love a particular song or how what I wrote helped to make it a great choice. It’s even more fantastic when you share that with comments on a post.
in the next couple of weeks I want you to expect that I’m going to be offering up a lot of Christmas music. I don’t mean to isolate people of other faiths. So feel free to make some suggestions for additional holiday music that I can offer up. You’ll likely end up hearing some of the songs I’ve assembled for my project. There will also be songs that were the springboards for what I did. Like today. I liked Jewel’s approach to Joy To The World. I borrowed heavily for it, only to mix it up a little. Enjoy her rendition of this very old song (it’s well over 100 years old).
I know she’s a star already, but I do believe it makes a nice addition to your collection. Click the iTunes link and add it to your library of good music to hear when you’ve got some family around.
(** Disclaimer: I doubt Jewel’s label will ask me to reduce the Joy being brought into the world. Should it happen, I’ll replace it with my rendition, cool? The post will remain as the first step in spreading additional good thoughts this Christmas season. **)
Shame Erin isn’t a theatre manager. Missing the perk huh? 🙂
That was a good perk. No doubt.
