Sunday’s Child
I’m back in Los Angeles. It was a whirlwind jump back in. Immediate after deplaning last night I had to hop in the car run through traffic to get home to pick up my guitar and then jet back through traffic to Hollywood to make it in time to play a scheduled set at Crane’s Tavern. The venue that set a bunch of things in motion for me recently.
I didn’t know if I’d make it. But I made it with about 5 minutes to spare. Whew.
The weather today is off to what LA can call winter. The wind was whipping around and there was a slight chill in the air. In between the winds though, you could stand there outside and start sweating. Makes for strange feelings on the skin. Sweating while standing in the sun then a little wind and whoosh you’ve got a chill going. I spent a good deal of time today cleaning up my yard which has been collecting fallen leaves and all the other tree stuff that I’d been doing in the past several weeks.
I also spent time going through the initial mixes of the Christmas album. You gotta spend time listening to things on a variety of sources. Thus, I put a little time inbetween listens to clear my head. I’m also taking notes so that for each source if I hear something different, we can make the necessary changes and get things right. So far it’s working out.
Thinking of Christmas and cold chills, that brings me to today’s Single of the Day. Stone Cold Winter is a little ditty from an artist from across the pond in the UK. I’m actually impressed with the sound that Andy is getting out of his acoustic guitar recording. I’m still on the fence about his vocal range, but I’m not letting that deter me from what that nice hook that happens after the chorus. Right where the female voices come in to support him. I don’t know what it is about the bridge that really locks it in for me, but it does. This song builds nicely.
There’s a lot of his material already on iTunes. I’m not sure why the EP that this song comes from isn’t. Though I’m sure it will soon appear there. He appears to be pretty savy about that. So if they inform me it’s on iTunes I’ll add the link in the future. Enjoy and support!
Thanks for the appreciation – just got an email saying I’d been spotted over your way.
The song’s about 12 years old now – I can sing it great these days! 😉
Keep in touch,
Andy
